The Hempress whispers ...Elemental therapy (scent, sound, feel)

"What would I be?
what would anyone be?... without the ups the downs , the highs the very lows , the Ebb the Flow , the round and round
the do si do , on and on in and out to and fro ....

I can't think of where life would hold meaning.. a day there the light would be muddy and my mind would be madd...the unbearable sadness of a day without Music is not one I wish to have."

Why Music Makes You Happy. Listening to moving music causes the brain to release dopamine, a feel-good chemical. People love music for much the same reason they're drawn to sex, drugs, gambling and delicious food, according to new research. ... "The reinforcement or reward happens almost entirely because of dopamine."

Because I'm happy

  • Increase social interaction
  • Provide sensory stimulation
  • Provide opportunity for self-expression
  • Decrease perception of pain
  • Increase relaxation/provide distraction
  • Decrease shortness of breath

  • okay, truth be told the whole "shortness of breath one, ...when some ladies and some gentlemen  ,look at the photo below ... well the shortness?... can happen . heeeheee.

below the photo of the very handsome Chris Pratt , are links to 2 songs that make me happy overtime I hear them .
not only do these songs I have shared bring happy feelings , they also put us in a certain mood that goes along with those feelings . the smell of popcorn and the taste of blue raspberry slushy is what comes to mine when I hear "Mr. Blue Sky" by E.L.O .
it used to remind me of summers when I was a kid , now the attachment has changed , the song now is connected to my Children and the Movie "Guardians of the galaxy"and the happy feelings I once had about my childhood have been Redeposited into a new GREAT feeling . of watching a movie with my kids at the theatre , but it goes even further that the main character in the movie searches for his Dad and his own identity, with songs from you guessed it , the 70's and his own childhood. Hollywood cashes in on these HAPPY feelings , and you and I can learn a whole lot from this type of therapy.
through the lonely years of living somewhere for 2 years tops , the one thing I could depend on and rely on everywhere and anytime , was my soundtracks to my memories. with my 20th wedding anniversary coming up in a month , I thought i would start collecting all the fantastic songs that were played over those years that meant something to our family , and boy there are many , and the memories are crisp and vibrant in our minds eye...
     (third eye-pineal gland=more on this later )

so much happiness can be made to order and that is what I am trying to educate more people around me to do, n this most amazing super easy , you can do it , come on... you know you can ,

How does the music affect the brain?

The Power of Music To Reduce Stress. The soothing power of music is well-established. It has a unique link to our emotions, so can be an extremely effective stress management tool. Listening to music can have a tremendously relaxing effect on our minds and bodies, especially slow, quiet classical music.

stress relief to mental, emotional and behavioral problems. It has been shown to help treat depression and anxiety, and is often used to help elderly clients deal with memory loss associated with diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia.

A 2009 study by Kim, Wigram, & Gold found that children with autism showed more emotional expression and social engagement during music therapy sessions than in play sessions without music

Lately a new kind of sound therapy, often called sound healing, has begun to attract a following. Also known as vibrational medicine, the practice employs the vibrations of the human voice as well as objects that resonate -- tuning forks, gongs, Tibetan singing bowls -- to go beyond relaxation and stimulate healing.

How music can affect your mood?

Music Soothes Anxiety, Reduces Pain. Researchers have documented that that listening to music can be effective for reducing pain in high-anxiety persons. Investigators discovered music can be used as a distraction and is effective among those who can easily become absorbed in cognitive activities.

We can easily see how music and the brain engage mood and emotion when a child smiles and begins to dance to a rhythm. He is experiencing an uplifted moodof joy from the music. ... In addition, research indicates that music affects mood by producing an array of other beneficial molecules in our biological pharmacy.

What is the psychology of music?
Music psychology is a field of research with practical relevance for many areas, including music performance, composition, education, criticism, and therapy, as well as investigations of human attitude, skill, performance, intelligence, creativity, and social behavior.

Just by hearing a few notes of a song you haven’t heard in years you will be surprised how much of the song you can continue to sing. Long story short, our brains are heavily influenced by music and there are connections to music throughout them making it a great therapy especially when a neurological impairment has occurred.
the fact that nearly everyone on the planet enjoys music to some extent, music is fun and non-invasive which always helps with motivation, and it has the ability to affect us physically, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. The best part is that music therapy can affect all of these things at the same time!

  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup old fashioned gluten free oats
  • 1/2 cup flax meal
  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts
  • 1 cup brown rice flour (whole wheat flour works too if you aren't concerned about gluten free)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped raw pecans
  • 1/2 cup dried blueberries
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the coconut, oats, flax meal, hemp hearts, flour, cinnamon and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the applesauce, maple syrup and vanilla.
  5. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet and stir to combine until everything is coated evenly.
  6. Add in the chopped pecans and dried blueberries and stir to combine.
  7. Using a small cookie scoop (or a spoon) drop the batter onto the parchment lined baking sheet. You can put them pretty close together as the cookies will not spread when baked. Flatten out the cookies with the back of a spoon or your hand if you want them flatter.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned on the edges. Carefully transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool. They will firm up as they cool.
  9. After the cookies are completely cool, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days.
